Detective Steed McGraw is readily captivated when beautiful network TV journalist Darci Clarke enters his Sterling, SC office to report the murder of her best friend.   But captivation soon leads to frustration when he shares the murder victim’s death has already been ruled a suicide and Darci refuses to accept it.

Living for years with the pain of unanswered questions after the death of his policeman father in the line of duty, Steed does everything he can to spare Darci the pain he’s lived with most of his life by getting her to accept the case facts.  But knowing something’s not quite right about this suicide; Darci refuses to stop digging until she gets some answers, a dogged search that culminates in the two cases being tied together in the most unlikely of ways.
